Kite Nightmare Part II

Some of you may recall Jonas' first kite flying experience back in January of this year. If not....go back and read it, it was hysterical. Well, Jonas got a new dragon kite for Christmas. It's got sharp teeth, horns and a long tail. It's pretty cool. He's been real antsy to fly it, but we've had to wait for a windy day. I must admit, I was curious to see if his "kite flying attitude" had matured at all over the past year. Today that question was answered.

We took the kite to Grammy and Grampy's and went out to the street. We learned two things....One, kites are hard to fly. Two, Jonas is still not ready to fly a kite. He only wanted it to "fwy wow" so he could dart around and try to catch it's tail. Now picture Grampy and I, trying our hardest to fly this thing and Jonas snatching the tail out of the sky and bringing it down. If it got too high, he'd scream that it was too high and to bring it down. Mind you, we never got it to reach over 15 feet! After about 5 tries, Grampy and I were getting the hang of it. We almost got it up....but then we crashed it into a tree. That was the end for Jonas. When we cut the string and fished it out of the tree (very unsafely) Jonas took it and "put it way back in the house so the wind couldn't get it anymore."
Grampy tried to get him to bring it back out by saying, "A kite is like a bird Jonas....if it can't fly it will be sad." Jonas wasn't buying it.

Oh well, maybe next year.
